Sodium benzoate in beverages Quick test box Instructions
Product number: YPHM-77-50
1 Introduction
Sodium benzoate, also known as sodium benzoate, is an acidic preservative. It has the advantages of good antiseptic effect, fast metabolism in the human body, low toxicity, etc. It is widely used in food additives. Excessive dosage will cause harm to the human liver and even cause cancer. This quick test box is suitable for rapid detection of sodium benzoate content in beverages.
2 Limited standard
GB2760-2014 "Food Additive Use Standard" stipulates: carbonated beverages and special-purpose beverages shall not exceed 0.2g/kg (8 drops) of benzoic acid, flavored beverages, tea, coffee, plant beverages, protein beverages, fruit and vegetable juices (pulp) beverages shall not exceed 1.0g/kg (40 drops), concentrated fruit and vegetable juices (pulp) (only for food industry use) shall not exceed 2.0g/L (80 drops).
3 Detection principle
This product combines the principle of titration and visual colorimetry to react the titration reagent with sodium benzoate in the color developer environment, and calculate the content of sodium benzoate by observing the amount of titration reagent added when the color changes.
4 Detection range Beverage
5 Technical indicators Detection limit: 0.0244g/L
6 sample measurement
6 Take 25mL of beverage in a 50mL triangular bottle, add 2.5g of reagent A, and then add 0.5mL of reagent B. Shake well to dissolve the solids.
6.2 Extract with 5mL of chloroform (self-prepared), shake for 3 minutes, and let stand for stratification. Aspirate the lower organic phase extract with a straw into a 10ml centrifuge tube, add 5 flat spoons of reagent C, fully shake the centrifuge tube, and then let stand for 1min.
6.3 Take 2.5mL of clarification solution into another centrifuge tube, add 1mL of purified water and 2 drops of reagent D. Titrate vertically with reagent E. Mix the solution one drop at a time until the color turns pink and does not fade for 30 seconds. Record the number of drops of reagent five. Calculate the content of sodium benzoate in the sample according to the following formula.
Sodium benzoate content (g/L) = 0.0244 drops (g/L)
7 Precautions
7 The use of chloroform in the detection process should be carried out in a fume hood;
7. 2 Move the reagent five in the white revolving bottle to an empty drop bottle for titration.
7.3 Dropping reagent five must be added vertically, and each drop must be fully shaken before it can be added again. After the test, pour the remaining reagent five back into the reagent five bottles.
7.4 This product is only used for initial screening, and the final result is subject to the relevant national standard methods.
8 Storage conditions and valid period Reagents are stored in a cool and dry place at 4-30 ° C away from light, and the period valid is 12 months.
